Sycamore Miller Conservatory Design

We are frequently asked to define the difference between a conservatory and an Orangery. Both names refer back to their original functionality, which was to house tender exotic plants. The important difference is in their construction. An Orangery is structurally stronger with deep profiled cornices around the top concealing a box like internal construction. This extra strength is required to take the roof which is usually canter levered.
